Casper Original Mattress Review (2026): Still Worth It?
Our verdict on Casper, in brief
The Casper Original is the mattress that made bed-in-a-box mainstream. Its zoned foam gives firmer support under the hips and softer cushioning at the shoulders, which suits back and combination sleepers especially well.
It is a genuinely comfortable, low-motion mattress with a 100-night trial. The catch is price: rivals now match its comfort for less, so Casper is best bought during one of its frequent sales.
What we liked
- Balanced medium-firm feel suits most sleepers
- Zoned support relieves hip and shoulder pressure
- Excellent motion isolation for couples
- 100-night trial and 10-year warranty
- Sleeps cooler than older all-foam beds
What we didn't
- Full price is high for an all-foam bed
- Heavier sleepers may want the firmer Casper models
- Edge support is only average
- Not ideal for strict stomach sleepers
Our ratings
Who the Casper Original is for
The Casper Original is a medium-firm, all-foam mattress designed to please the largest possible slice of sleepers. Its standout feature is zoned support: the foam is engineered to feel firmer under your hips and lower back and softer under your shoulders. In practice that means back and combination sleepers get spinal alignment without the pressure points, and side sleepers get cushioning where they need it.
Comfort and motion
Lie down and the Casper feels balanced – supportive but not hard, cushioned but not sinking. It is one of the best mattresses we have tested for motion isolation, so if you share a bed with a restless partner you will barely feel them move. The top layer breathes better than classic memory foam, so it does not trap as much heat.
Where it falls short
Two honest caveats. First, edge support is only average for an all-foam bed – sit on the very edge and you will feel it dip. Second, and more importantly, the full retail price is high now that competitors deliver similar comfort for less. Strict stomach sleepers and heavier bodies may also prefer one of Casper’s firmer models for extra support.
Is Casper still worth it?
Yes – with an asterisk. The Original remains a comfortable, reliable, couple-friendly mattress backed by a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty. Just don’t pay full price. Casper discounts often, so buying during a sale turns a good mattress into a genuinely good deal.
