Caraway Cookware Review (2026): Is the Non-Toxic Set Worth It?
In brief

Our verdict on Caraway, in brief

Caraway makes ceramic-coated cookware that skips PTFE, PFOA and other "forever chemicals", so it is one of the safest nonstick options you can buy. The pans heat evenly, look beautiful on the shelf, and come with clever storage.

The trade-off is durability: ceramic nonstick simply does not last as long as traditional PTFE. Use low-to-medium heat, wooden or silicone tools, and hand-wash it, and a Caraway set will serve you well for years.

What we liked

  • Truly non-toxic (no PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead or cadmium)
  • Excellent, even heat distribution
  • Beautiful colors and included storage rack
  • Lightweight and easy to handle
  • Oven-safe to 550°F

What we didn't

  • Ceramic coating wears faster than PTFE
  • Needs gentle care (low heat, no metal tools)
  • Premium price for the full set
  • Not the most durable for daily heavy use

What is Caraway?

Caraway is a direct-to-consumer cookware brand built around one promise: nonstick cooking without the toxic chemistry. Every pan uses a mineral-based ceramic coating instead of the PTFE (Teflon-style) coating found on most nonstick pans, so there is no PFOA, PFAS, lead or cadmium in the mix. It launched with a signature four-piece set in soft, on-trend colors and has since expanded into bakeware, food storage and small appliances.

How it performs in the kitchen

Day to day, Caraway is a pleasure to cook with. Eggs slide, pancakes release cleanly, and the aluminum core spreads heat evenly so you avoid hot spots. The pans are light enough to handle one-handed and the whole set is oven-safe to 550°F, which is more flexible than a lot of ceramic competitors. The included magnetic storage rack and canvas lid holder genuinely cut cupboard clutter.

The honest downside: durability

Ceramic nonstick is safer, but it is not as long-lived as PTFE – that is true of every ceramic pan, not just Caraway. If you crank the heat, use metal utensils or put it in the dishwasher, the coating loses its slip within a year. Stick to low-to-medium heat, wooden or silicone tools and hand-washing and you will get several good years out of it.

Is Caraway worth it?

For cooks who want a clean, non-toxic set that looks great and cooks evenly, Caraway earns its price – especially the full set, which is far cheaper per piece than buying pans individually. If your priority is the longest-lasting nonstick for the lowest price, a traditional PTFE set will outlast it. For most modern kitchens that value health and design, it is an easy recommendation.

Frequently asked questions

Is Caraway actually non-toxic?
Yes - the coating is mineral-based ceramic with no PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead or cadmium, and it is third-party tested.
How long does Caraway last?
With gentle care (low-medium heat, no metal tools, hand-washing) the nonstick stays effective for a few years, though ceramic naturally degrades faster than PTFE.
Is Caraway worth the price?
If a clean, non-toxic set and good looks matter to you, yes. If you want maximum nonstick lifespan for the money, a traditional set lasts longer.
